The Sailing Bug started early for me. I was in the 7th Grade when my family moved from the suburbs of Flint, MI to Lake Fenton, MI. Every day I woke up to the view of the water. It wasn't long before I was mowing lawns to earn enough to purchase my first Sailboat, a "Scamper". The hull was made of plastic which encased styrofoam. It had a wood Dagger Board, a wood retractable Rudder and was similar in size to the Sunfish for half the price.I spent many summers sailing up and down that lake. It didn't matter what the weather was. I was having fun, scaring my mother with my shenanigans, like turtling my boat and generally getting wet.
